Looking for night life, great food and great fishing? New Orleans can do it for you. Uptown Angler takes you right from the heart of the city to great flats fishing for giant Redfish. The mornings are a little early, but as soon as the boats starts up the hang over clears up. We would drive about 45 minutes out of town to the boat launch and be by ourselves on the flats all day. Along the way you stop at a great diner for some good southern breakfast and pick up your lunch. The area we fished was huge and we only saw one boat in all the time on the water. We did see plenty of fish though. Capt Greg was great in finding fish and moving when the fishing slowed down. The redfish were all decent size and we saw some really large ones they stayed just out of casting range. Larger equals smarter. There was hardly at time when the action dropped off. If we went 25 minutes without seeing a fish that was rare. The water clarity was not what you bonefishers would be used to, but once we got the hang of seeing the fish it was no problem. Good thing about Redfish is they are not that fast so you get multiple shots at them as they swim by. Once you hook up it is like hanging onto a dump truck. They might not be fast, but super strong and will fight you all the way to the boat. Next time we will get that 40 lber we saw swimming out to deep water.
