The Seychelles (Indian Ocean)
Here is a report from my buddies over at Double Haul Travel
Bonefish- Expect large numbers of tailing fish while wade fishing. The fish average around 4lbs and very readily take most bonefish patterns. Some of the more effective patterns we found were the x-mas island special and the honey shrimp. While most of the fish you encounter will be tailing, you will see some large singles and doubles. The bone minnow was a very effective pattern for these fish.
Trigger fish- One of the more unique fish an angler will ever encounter. All of our Permit patterns were producers. Angler can except to find fairly spooky fish with presentations needed according to tidal flows.
Trevally- Most baitfish patterns will produce memorable strikes from the veracious fish.
Permit- We did encounter a few permit each day. So anglers should plan on fishing some of the day with a few of the crab patterns we stock that work well for bones and permit.
Reef fish- For anglers wanting to catch a variety of species take heavy sinking lines and some of our larger baitfish patterns and fish beyond the reef.
Milkfish- Algae patterns that are specific to that area. The guides at Alphonse Island Fishing Co. have a good assortment of these patterns on hand.
