Saltwater Flies for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon

Permit, the fish of a thousand cast, or thousands of dollars. Many anglers have traveled far to catch one of the elusive fish. Permit can live up to 20 years, which might explain why they are so smart. I have always had good luck in the Punta Allen area in Mexico. The lodges down there have concentrated on Permit for many years and seemed to have figured them out as much as anybody ever will. Selecting a fly for a Permit is easy. Pick one out of your box and then be ready to change it a few times when the Permit refuse it. Sometimes I do not think it is the fly as much as finding the right fish. When fishing for Permit have a box with several different patterns and a few sizes. I know it sounds like I am trying to sell you more Permit flies, but it is the truth.
