One hour outside
of Vancouver makes this lodge an easy quick get away for pacific salmon. No need
to go all the way to Alaska. The lodge sits in a residential neighborhood and is
the owner’s old house. The meals were excellent and accommodations are fine.
Being so close to a major city you do not get the remote feeling of an Alaskan
camp, but the fishing is about the same. We were there for the Pink run and
there were times when the whole bottom of the river was moving with fish
swimming up stream. You had to be careful when stripping your
Salmon fly , because snagging a Humpy in the
back can break your rod, as I found out. Guides pick you up in the morning and drive you to the boat
ramp and you are fishing by 8:30. My wife caught first salmon here and spent a
couple days site seeing around the beautiful Fraser River Valley. |
